Returning from and evening out last night we were traveling along interstate 80 in Omaha. The roads were bad, there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down.
In the fast lane, a semi was tailgating, Hook signaled and tried to move to the right to let him by, the semi moved as well...we moved back into the left lane.
The semi came around us on the right, cut in front of us, no signal nearly clipping our front end, splashing water and ice so we could hardly see the road.
Hook moved 2 lanes over, and yes, he flipped the guy the bird. The semi came after us, crossing 3 lanes of traffic and put us on the shoulder.
I was terrified, I was actually screaming.
Unprofessional drivers give the industry a bad reputation. Hook took down the trailer number, the truck number, and notified the company. All we had to do was Google the company to find the information.
He left his name, phone number, and CDL number and yes he did admit to flipping the guy off.
Don't stand for bullying.
These men are driving deadly machines. One clip, one small hit would have resulted in a major accident.
Yep, I'm Ticked OFF!!

I am in no way excusing Hook's participation in this event. Flipping the guy off only made the situation worse. Believe me...I voiced this in my screams of terror!!!
Happy Saturday everyone!!

Unfortunately with the upcoming holidays there are more people out and about traveling on the highways and we have to share the road with them. It definitely worries me with those kids of mine traveling home.
I suppose we all need to take extra caution when driving this time of year especially.
I hate guys like that my dad drrove for 40 years and was never in an accident (he was lucky ) me I grew up in a truck I even rember how to use a browney lol But it has got so bad now I won't drive I stay to my back raods
Owe the days of horse and buggy lol
I was scared out of my wits, I really didn't think the truck was going to stop until he had us in the ditch. And Hook....well you know him, stand your ground, roll down the window...flip him off some more....
The company was very nice about it, although I doubt it will go much further than that conversation.
I'm alone tonight and will be making the rounds.

Thanks for stopping in! The new drivers are a different breed. Hook also grew up in the truck, riding/driving with his dad since he was 5. (That's a lot of years!!) There is no courtesy, friendliness, or watching out for one another anymore. It's sad really. Most people are intimidated by the trucks and truckers. This kind of thing only adds to it. I think everyone out there has a semi story...it's become so common anymore.
Have a great weekend!

We are all in the life together and what makes is safe for all is providing solutions.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
payback time!
Hope you have a nice relaxing night tonight.
It used to be that the safest drivers on the road were semi drivers, not anymore. A very good friend of ours lost his wife a few years ago when a semi driver pulled out into traffic right in front of her in a speed zone. She was 35 and the mother of 3 kids. Dangerous, and they frighten me.

Glad you two survived a scary and harrowing experience. My mantra on the highway is I hate trucks, SUVs, busses, and I'm not overly fond of some of the driver's of cars either.
Thanks for stopping by my place. You know, I have to be totally honest, I never even thought of calling the police. My thought was to get home, out of the weather and away from that whole situation.
Yes...the bird, uncalled for and it just made things worse. Just a bad situation all round. Thanks for sharing your thoughts I really appreciate it.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad to hear you are safe and well as well. It's been an awful week in the midwest.
Happy Saturday!!

My dad was a trucker. He was one of the good guys. Slow and steady on the road and he knew it like the back of his hand. He was once hit by a woman in the right lane, trying to make a lefthand turn across his middle lane and claimed she did not see the gi-normous yellow and black truck in her mirrors. There is no blind spot large enough to lose a truck that size in
That was a day for the books.
Thanks for the post!
I am so glad to know you both survived that.
Any traffic cameras in the area that might have
caught it on tape? It was be interesting to watch
and see it unfold. Kinda like - road rage therapy!
BTW....
These are the only snowballs I am lending to this fight.
Not catching me in the middle of that, but have fun for sure!
Sorry for you guys, and so glad you were not in a bad accident.....
Have a great week....Heide
