This week has been incredibly long.
Hook had his surgery Monday. When he arrived at the hospital, the surgeon informed him he would be taking down his right lung in order to protect it from any damage that may occur during the procedure.
Hook woke up with a chest tube and in so much pain they could not get it under control. His right lung was scarred and had to be scraped. They permanently froze nerves in his chest wall.
His worst night was Monday night. He came home for one night this week, I went to work on Wednesday night only to return home to find him "blown up" is the only way I can describe it. He looked like he was wearing a fat suit like the nutty professor.
His lung had collapsed again causing air to go into all his tissue in his upper body, including his face. When you press his skin...like massage it, it feels bubble wrap is popping under his skin. I've never seen anything like it.
He was readmitted Thursday morning, another chest tube was placed to let the air escape and get his lung back up again.
I'm home for a much needed rest. I had been up for 2 days after working Wednesday night and getting him settled in yesterday. He called with news a few minutes ago...another chest tube will be placed today, a larger one as he has only "blown up" more over night.
**Saturday, November 17**
They aren't going to let him come home today I will be spending the day at his side. We are hoping for better news tomorrow.
He isn't in a lot pain thankfully, the doctor feels it may take days before the air will slowly leave his tissue.
I don't know if this nightmare will ever end.
