I worked my Saturday this weekend. I'm only required to work one Saturday a month, kinda nice.

 

 We have a stomach virus going around the facility. When I arrived to work on Saturday I was met by staff who were run ragged because of the illness. Frustrated, because they were short staffed. Mad, because the on-call nurse decided she would just shut off her phone and enjoy her weekend off.

State regulations require a nurse be available 24/7 either by being in the building or being reached by phone.

 

 

 

My night shift was the busiest I can remember, when I left there were 15 people suffering from this virus all having vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. The staff was given no direction on how to stop this from spreading. I left a detailed list with specific instructions. NO ONE was to leave their rooms if they had one or all of the symptoms. 

No one came in to help.

 

The on-call nurse saw the Lion King musical on Sunday and turned off the phone again.

The staff called me this morning, there were a total of 21 people now suffering from the virus.

With a little direction and maybe a little concern, these poor old people probably wouldn't have been exposed.

 

I really hate where I work it's so poorly run and no one cares at all.

 

 But, I'll go back in tonight, and take care of my old people.....

some one has to.

 

 

 I'm going to be gone for a couple days, working my crabazz off....
