Finally, we had a huge storm blow through last night.

Honestly, I don't think it had rained since May and the temp had been in the 100's this week. We got over an inch of rain!!

I haven't poked my nose out the door, but I know it's cooled off.

Today is my Friday.

Tonight I'll be doing my last 12 hour shift. I'm tired. I slept too long...or not enough... I can't wake up.

Hook is stuck in Massachusetts, sitting at Farmland waiting for a load. It is amazing that his company sends him 1,300 miles away then acts surprised when he delivers and needs to get back home....sometime...looks like Saturday for him.

(That pic is hilarious... )

I'm off to read a few blogs, finish my coffee.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I'll be up now until most of the normal people in the world have their dinner, enjoy their evening, have a good night sleep and head to work tomorrow...

I hope I make it!!!

 So Tragic.

This story was on our evening news last night. My heart goes out to the family of this young boy.

Please,

remove doors from all appliances that are not in use.

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. — A children's game of hide-and-seek turned to tragedy when a 6-year-old boy hid inside a microwave oven on a 90-degree night and was unable to get out.

Paulsen said the boy and his 9-year-old sister were playing hide-and-seek outside their home after dinner.

At 7:20 p.m., family members called 911 and told authorities that Jimmy had been missing for about an hour.

Police, fire and rescue crews responded. About an hour after the 911 call, the boy was found inside an inoperable microwave oven that was sitting in the bed of the family's pickup truck, parked behind the house.

Coupled with Monday night's 91-degree temperature, the boy may have died within a matter of minutes, Paulsen said.

"I highly doubt that he was alive that full two hours."

The story went on to say that the boy was only 44 inches tall and 45 pounds. The microwave was put into the pickup with the door facing upward. Making it impossible to unlatch after he crawled in.

The family had loaded the truck and planned to dispose of the unwanted items this Saturday.

Instead, they will be putting their son to rest.

 Missing in Action.

Where have they gone to....... Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The "Back Garage"

Hook and I live in a very average home, a raised ranch, built in the mid 1960's. It has been well maintained with previous owners adding on here and there.

The selling point for us was the huge backyard fenced for privacy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The back garage was built in the 1980's sometime by an older guy that lived here. It's wired for power, having everything but running water.
The back garage also holds many stories. The man that built it, pulled into one evening and just let the car idle.
He died in the garage he built.
A story also surfaced that not many years later, a man took his life by hanging in the back garage.
We entertain a lot. Family and friends just drop by....for some reason we always end up in the back garage.
We fire up the grill, turn on some tunes, sing some karaoke.
The back garage has a fridge always filled with refreshments.
One thing I've noticed. People who visit, whether they be quiet and reserved, out-going and crazy, will let loose.
We've had so many laughs because someone who has never shown a bit of a wild side will stand up do a dance, sing a tune.
I believe there is some type of presence back there.
So, that's where we've been.
Making memories in our back garage, entertaining friends....
and maybe a few friendly spirits.
 Beware, gross pic and insect talk!!
The summer has been beyond busy this year.
Every weekend we are involved in some sort of activity.
Hook called me from the road the beginning of this week, complaining of nausea, a headache, feverish.
He also mentioned a large lump under his arm.
MY OH MY...I'm thinking we've been in motels, in rivers, outside, what kind of poo poo did he pick up now??
I started researching Nebraska insects, I'm thinking he got bit by some type of bug....
now i'm horrifed.
The thought of West Nile Virus is always in my head. There has been 8 confirmed cases in Nebraska this year, last year 311. The dry weather has probably helped with keeping down the mosquito population.
Then I went on to spiders....HUGE MISTAKE!!
The Brown Recluse
I've heard it mentioned over and over again. They are common in the midwest, not where I'm from in northern Michigan.
You can tell the Brown Recluse by the violin shape behind it's head.
After being bit by this nasty thing you will have symptoms within 2- 8 hours.
 A minority of bites form a necrotizing ulcer that destroys soft tissue and may take months and possibly years to heal, leaving deep scars.
Hook was home last night, I looked at his lump.
Looks like more of a blocked sweat gland or irritated hair follicle.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.
In the meantime,
The Brown Recluse.....
I live in fear.....
 Pictures...just at the right angel.
Sometimes the camera captures things that just aren't what they seem.
Happy Monday!!
