Over the past year, plus a couple of months I have made so many friends here.

I couldn't even begin to list them all.

In fear of embarrassing my friend, I want to share this story.

My Middle Name Is Grace

Sarah from "My Middle Name is Grace" is not only a blog buddy she is one of my closest friends.

About 6 years ago, my son came home after living with his dad for a while. He started working in the kitchen at the facility where both Sarah and I were employed.

He and Sarah started hanging out together, dating.

Sarah was so good to him, the love of his life.

They were such a cute couple. He was so happy. There was a time I remember Sarah was out of town for a while, my son laying on the living room floor, looked up at me and said..."I miss Sarah."

It brought tears to my eyes.

Their relationship lasted years.

I had it set in my mind that she would have my grandbabies, and they would live happily ever after.

Their relationship ended over a year ago now. I still feel the pain my son carries. He loves her, always will.

Through that, Sarah and I have remained close.

She is my "Sex in the City" friend. Always there when I need her. I can call her day or night. I trust her above anyone with my secrets, my home, anything.

Sarah is working 3 jobs now, finishing up her schooling. She's doing it right. She's the daughter I never had, she is an inspiration to me.

She gives me hope for the future.

Yep, Monday again.

As my eyes opened this morning, well really this afternoon cause I have a 12 hour night shift ahead of me, these were my thoughts.

 

My back hurts...should I roll out of bed and just land on the floor. If I stand up my bladder may give way.

That also goes with if I cough or sneeze or do any heavy lifting.

 

I'd really like to read the paper but my arms are not long enough anymore.... you know what I'm saying.

 

Another work week, I think I just threw up a little bit!!!

Overnight, it seems my perky 36C's have become 40 longs, and why is my butt rubbing on the back of my knees!!!

Can you iron your face...on low heat?? It's worth a try.

 

No worries, I'll be back to this by Friday!!

As I prepared for work last night,

I started thinking of the road that lead me to my final career choice as a nurse.

I started thinking of all my colorful friends here in the stream.

I wondered what everyone did before they found their final career choice, or maybe they haven't found it yet.

In the beginning....

When I was 16 I worked as a dishwasher/busgirl in the only restaurant in our small town.

After high school I took a year off. I finally applied for a job in northern Wisconsin at a private resort. It had boating, fishing, horseback riding.

(Hot, single, rich guys vacationing.)

This job was like college with no books. A bunch of young kids having a great time. 

PARTY!!!! Skinny dipping, dancing on bars, woo hoo...lucky I survived.

I married after my second season at the resort. While my husband was in basic training I worked at the local tree farm back home.

I sorted saplings, packed, and shipped them.

Crazy job!!

 

I moved to England where I had my son and did daycare for military families.

When we got back to the states I cleaned houses for a while. Then I saw an add in the paper for a CNA class at a nursing home not far from our apartment...I took the class and spent 17 years at that facility.

As a CNA, then a Medication Tech, then decided to to go to nursing school.

 

Somewhere in the midst of all of that I also trained to be a dental assistant. I went through the course which took about 8 months, but never used it. Something I just wanted to do.

 

I'd love to hear what kind of jobs everyone had in the past, or has now.

I bet there's a few interesting ones out there!!!

We are always looking for fun things to do when we have company over. We found this new backyard game.

We love it.

Safer than lawn darts, kinda like horseshoes...

the fun thing is, anyone can play.

 

The object of the game is to get the golf balls onto the ladder, each bar is worth a different point amount.

If you are real handy you can make a set of your own. We have found the homemade sets are much sturdier and really not that hard to make.
